Therefore, you could mount your projector either in your room, in the living room or basement.

Why Should I Use These Locations?

When it comes to mounting a projector theatre at home, location matters a lot. Just mounting the projector anywhere in the home can either create a nuisance or make you not enjoy to the fullest advantage of the projector theatre. You need to really consider a lot of factors, like where to position the screen, the distance between the screen and the projector, how much light gets into the room, the size of the room itself, the type of projector and so on.  But some of the best locations are as follows:

GARDEN

Mounting your projector in your garden at home is really awesome, it makes you have that feeling of being outdoors with nature, and the cool breeze you get while watching anything on the projector is totally priceless.

But there is always a disadvantage to everything good. When you mount your projector in your garden you can only use it at certain times. When it’s raining, or when it’s sunny it could be a spoiler. The best time to use the projector when you plan on mounting it in the garden is in the evening when the sun is fully set.

LIVING ROOM

Also, the living room is another great location for mounting your projector theatre, however, you need to consider that in a living room the amount of light entering can be a bit much, so you should try to reduce it to the minimum using black curtains as blind on the windows and shutting the doors.

Also, if you intend to mount your projector theatre in the living room, you should also consider buying an ambient reflecting screen, as it would help reduce how to fade the image would be when light reflects in the screen.

ROOM

When you just purchase a projector you want to use in creating a projector theatre at home, and you are considering where to position, a room can be a great place to consider. Not compulsorily your bedroom, but it can be a room specially designed for the theatre. A room is a great place to consider because it is a room, there is little or no light in a room which is ideal for a projector theatre. You could also use black curtains on the windows as a blind, and ensure you shut the door always.

BASEMENT

The basement is actually the best location to mount a projector theatre, in that it is mostly on the lowest floor in the house. And it is the lowest floor, very minimal light get into the basement. All that you need to do to make the basement the best location ever for your projector theatre, is to just add a couple of furniture, probably repaint and add the appropriate lighting system to give it that classic, unique theatre feel.

The best location to mount your projector is a location where you can control the amount of light. When mounting your projector system, other things also need to be considered to get the best out of the location.

Where Do I Position the Projector Screen?

Where do i position the projector screen

All depending on how the room is designed and where you want to mount the projector. A location like a wall is appropriate to mount the projector because there light is not directly behind the screen or reflecting on the screen because when there is light on the screen the image would appear washed out. But if you want to place the projector screen where there is direct light, then you should make sure your projector screen is a light reflecting screen, or if you want to paint a screen to a wall, then I would suggest that you paint the wall with an ambient reflecting paint.

Also when considering the position of the projector screen, for the best physical comfort it is advisable to position the screen at the lower one-third of the image, that is the image has to be about 48 inches away from the floor. This is important so that you can be comfortable while watching anything on the projector screen, and your head had to be at the same level of the bottom one-third of the screen while you are sitting down.

What Should be the Distance Between the Projector and the Screen?

The distance you place between your projector and the screen has a great deal in determining the image size. The size of the picture the projector produce increase with the distance the projector is being placed from the screen. To make use of the throw distance ratio of your project to know the maximum distance between your projector and the screen, you would just need to do a little mathematics.

For instance, you have a 10 inches screen of aspect ratio 16:9, and on your projector you have the maximum throw distance ratio to be 2:1 and the minimum throw distance ratio to be 1.5:1 then the maximum distance you can place your projector from your screen would be 20 inches, that is 2 x 10, also the minimum distance you can place your projector from the screen would be 15 inches, that is 1.5 x 10. The multiplication of the minimum or maximum throw distance ratio with the size of your screen in an inch would give you the minimum or maximum distance between your projector and the screen.

What is the Throw Distance?

What is throw distance

The projector image and the how big or small the image depends a lot on your room layout, although you also have to know the projector throw distance and adjust it accordingly to your taste to give you that unique classic theatre look. The throw distance of a projector is the distance in which a projector image can go. Though there are different types of projectors out there, with different throw distances, choosing the right projector that suits your need and budget can be helpful.

There are different types of throw distance, but basically, there is three important throw distance that needs to be known by anyone who wants to set up a projector theatre at home They include:

LONG THROW

The long throw distance for a projector is mainly used in a very large room or hall, and the projector is being attached to the ceiling. It is advisable to purchase a long throw distance projector for a large gathering of people because the image being produced by this long throw distance projector is usually large and sharp and can be seen from afar off.

SHORT THROW

Short throw is also being used to produce a large image too, but the difference between the long throw distance projector and the short throw distance projector is that the short throw distance projector produces images with fewer shadows and blurred image. Generally, most short throw distance projector can be mounted on the wall or on the ceiling. Short throw distance is between 3 feet and 8 feet.

ULTRA-SHORT THROW

This projector throw virtually eliminates all any form of a shadow or blurred image. Most projectors that have the ultra-short throw distance are usually mounted on the wall, or on the ceiling that is closer to the wall. Some people actually do put them on a table that is projecting downwards. For this type of throw projectors, the distance between the screen and the projector is usually between 0 feet and 4 feet.  Meaning a good image is being produced at this distance.

At this point when you have figured out the type of projector you need for your room where you want to install a projector theatre, you have also figured out the type of screen to use, because basically you can not at some times totally eliminate all the lights entering your room, most especially if you install this system in your sitting room. You should note that there is some screen that can accommodate a little bit of light and still produce a really good image, while some screen does not do well at all with light.
